FA24 TELECOM SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Module Description: Engineering Math

Hours of Instruction: 96 hours
Module Length: 12 days

Required Textbooks:

Dr. Stephen Fenner, Engineering Math

This module is designed to provide students a detailed review of mathematics pertinent to the study of electronics, telecommunications, and data communications. The review of basic differential and integral calculus is also covered. After completing this module, students will have the mathematical background to solve problems that will be encountered in the Telecommunications Systems and Data Communications modules. Students will complete several written practical exercises to solve complex mathematical problems.

Students should be able to accomplish the following after completing this module:

  • Session 1: Exponential and Logarithmic Functions
  • Session 2: Matrices & Differential Calculus
  • Session 3: Probability Theory
  • Session 4: Information Theory
  • Session 5: Trigonometric Functions, Part 1
  • Session 6: Trigonometric Functions, Part 2
  • Session 7: Wave Theory, Part I
  • Session 8: Wave Theory, Part II & Integral Calculus Refresher
  • Session 9: Queueing Theory
  • Session 10: Number Theory
