COL (Ret.) Everett O. Greenwood (1990)

COL (Ret.) Everett Greenwood was the Signal Regiment’s first Regimental Adjutant, serving from 1986 to 1988. Early assignments in his 29-year career included 69th Signal Battalion, 416th Signal Aviation Company, 34th Signal Battalion and two tours in Vietnam with 1st Cavalry Division. Between Vietnam tours, he was assigned to the aviation element, InterAmerican Geodetic Survey in Guatemala. He also was an officer advanced course instructor in both the ordnance and signal schools. He organized and commanded a unit-oriented training battalion at Fort Gordon, Ga., and served as an inspector in the Army inspector general’s office. On the Army staff, he was chief of the deputy chief of staff for operations command, control, communication and computers’ plans division, and was deputy communications and electronics officer for the Combined Field Army in Korea. His final assignments were commander of 7th Signal Command’s Air Traffic Control Combat Support Activity, then director of Office Chief of Signal, Regimental Adjutant and president of the Signal Corps Regimental Association at the Signal Center, Fort Gordon, Ga.

COL Greenwood’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit with two oak-leaf clusters, Bronze Star medal with two oak-leaf clusters, Meritorious Service Medal with oak-leaf cluster and the Signal Corps Regimental Association’s Silver Order of Mercury. He was inducted as a Distinguished Member of the Signal Regiment in 1990.
