MG (Ret.) David E. White (1990)

MG (Ret.) David White served the Signal Regiment for 32 years, ending his career as director for plans and programs, office of the director of information systems for command, control, communications and computers. Other assignments included commander, 5th Signal Command, and deputy chief of staff for information management at U.S. Army Europe.

Other commands included Company B, 82d Signal Battalion; 440th Signal Battalion; 22d Signal Brigade (deputy commander); 3d Signal Brigade; and Information Systems Command/Army Material Command. Some of MG White’s key staff assignments were Signal adviser to U.S. Military Assistance Command in Vietnam; Signal Branch assignment officer at Army headquarters; plans officer in the deputy chief of staff for operation’s War Plans Division; force modernization officer in the Army Chief of Staff’s office; and deputy director for plans, programs and systems, DISC4.

MG White’s awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit with three oak-leaf clusters, Bronze Star medal and Meritorious Service Medal with four oak-leaf clusters. The Signal Regiment inducted him as a Distinguished Member in 1990.
