MSG Robert Barnes III


MSG Robert Barnes III was born August 2, 1972 in Tacoma, Washington. He graduated from Glenpool High School in 1990 and enlisted into the Regular Army on February 12, 1991 as an Administrative Specialist (71L). He completed Basic Training/Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and later reclassified into his current MOS 25B (Information System Operator – Analyst)

MSG Barnes’s military education includes: Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Course - Adjutant General and Signal, Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers Course, Army Recruiter Course, Instructor Course, and Green Belt certified (Lean Six Sigma).

MSG Barnes’s received his Associate Degree in General Studies and currently working on his Bachelor Degree in Computer Information Assurance with the University of Maryland.

During his 20 years of service, he has served in a variety of leadership positions to include: Company Operations NCOIC, Squad Leader, Section NCOIC, Platoon Sergeant, Station Commander, Brigade S3 NCOIC, First Sergeant, SR Professional Development NCO for the Signal Corp (Enlisted Management).

His past assignments include HHB 3/62 ADA, Fort Drum, New York; HHC, 5th Signal Command, Worms, Germany; HHD, 2d Signal Brigade, Mannheim, Germany; United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC), Fort Bragg, North Carolina; HHC, 3d Signal Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas; Dallas Recruiting Battalion, McKinney Recruiting Station, McKinney, Texas, HHC, 160th Signal Brigade, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, 550th Signal Company 1SG, 25th Signal Battalion, and the SR Professional Development NCO Signal Branch Human Resource Command (FT Knox, KY). Most currently serves as the Deputy Commandant of the Regimental Noncommissioned Officers Academy, FT Gordon, GA

His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (1OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (2OLC), the Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal/Service Medal, the NCO Professional Development Ribbon (3) and the Army Overseas Service Ribbon (2)

He is the proud father of three children Trey (17), Tyrell (14) and Myka (7).
