Mercury Fusion Exercise

Mercury Fusion Exercise

Capstone FTX for all Signal AIT Students

Description:   Every week, students arrive on Fort Gordon to train and learn what it takes to be a Signal Soldier. Nine Signal Military Occupational Specialties are trained here at this installation from Satellite Communication Systems Operator/Maintainer to Signal Support Systems Specialist.  All nine of these MOS's provide a vital role in providing communications for our leaders and war-fighters.  The 15th Regimental Signal Brigade provides the training and discipline and ensure the Soldiers are tactically, technically, physically, and mentally prepared to make an immediate and positive contribution to their next unit of assignment. The challenging "Final Test" for these Soldiers before they depart to their next unit of assignment is the Mercury Fusion Exercise.  The Mercury Fusion Exercise is conducted every week of the year.  During the 6 day exercise Soldiers experience what it is like to live, sleep, work and Soldier in a current operating environment. The Soldiers from various MOS's get the opportunity to meld together and understand what each of them contributes to a C4ISR Network. The name of the exercise is significant; "Mercury" being the swift messenger of the Gods and a symbol of the Signal Mission and "Fusion" for the melding of the different skills it takes to make communications in combat secure and successful. Battles are waged and lives are saved via the communications these Soldiers will be asked to provide on a daily basis in their next unit of assignment.  Mercury Fusion Exercise also allows Soldiers to hone their tactical proficiency through Warrior Tasks, Battle Drills and Live Fire Ranges.  Those that make it through all of their technical, tactical, physical training requirements and the Mercury Fusion are inducted in the Signal Regiment at the conclusion of the weekly exercise ensuring the Signal Soldiers of the future will continue to bring glory and honor to our regiment.
