Command Sergeant Major Medina is a native of Jayuya, P.R. He entered the military in August 1986 as a Dial Central Office Repairer (MOS 29N) and attended Basic Training at Fort Jackson, SC. He attended Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon, GA.

His duty assignments include 181st Signal Company, Heidelberg, Germany; HHC 16th Signal Battalion, Fort Hood, TX; Operations Sergeant, HHC, 1st COSCOM G6, Fort Bragg, NC; Drill Sergeant, C Co 447th Signal Battalion, Fort Gordon, GA; Platoon Sergeant, C Co. 440th Signal Battalion; Senior Operations Sergeant, HHC 22nd Signal Brigade, Darnstadt, Germany; 1SG, B Co. 440th Signal Battalion, Darmstadt, Germany; 1SG, HHC 11th Signal Battalion, Fort Huachuca, AZ; Student and Faculty, Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, TX; S3 and Battalion Command Systems Directorate Sergeant Major, 369th Signal Battalion, Fort Gordon GA; and most recently Command Sergeant Major of 59th Signal Battalion, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.

CSM Medina has completed numerous schools including all NCOES level schools to include the Sergeants Major Course, Class 56; Drill Sergeat School; The Jumpmaster Course; Standardized COMSEC Custodian Course; CBRN Course; UPL Course; EOL Course; Cold Weather Leaders Orientation Course;.CSM Medina holds a Bachelor Degree of Science from Excelsior College, and an Masters of Business Administration from Tourou University.

CSM Medina has numerous awards to include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (5 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (5OLC), Army Achievement Medal (4 OLC), The Humanitarian Service Medal (3rd Award) and many others.

CSM Medina is married with two children.
